It Started with a Lost Hat

It started with my favorite blue hat, the one I wore everywhere. Sailing on the Bay, walking through town, living life day to day.

One summer sail, the wind picked up quickly while I was on the helm. A single gust, and it was gone before I had a chance to secure it.

When I went looking for a replacement, nothing matched the feeling I wanted. I wanted something with sailing clearly in its DNA, but also with the calm, functional simplicity of life between the water and the everyday. But most sailing brands felt too loud, too technical, or disconnected from the quiet rhythm I lived on the Bay.

What began as a search slowly turned into a sketchbook. Then fabric choices. Colors inspired by fog and coastal light. Ideas for pieces that felt understated, functional, and made for the steady pace of life on the water.

It wasn’t meant to become a brand, just an attempt to make something I genuinely wanted to wear on and off the water.

Avelamer grew from that simple truth. When you can’t find what feels honest, you make it yourself — slowly, intentionally, and with respect for the place that inspires it.

Thanks for being here at the beginning.
