Our design process began with a single word: restraint. In a world of loud logos and fast fashion, we set out to build a “look closer” brand, one defined by balance, proportion, and details that earn their place, a philosophy that first surfaced in It Started With a Lost Hat.
We obsessed over placement and scale, letting every element remain quiet and intentional. Nothing loud. Nothing extra. Just a simple, enduring philosophy.

This “less logo, more lifestyle” ethos led directly to our signature “A” mark. We designed it to live quietly on a woven label or tonal embroidery. If you do look closer, you'll see its wave-like crossbar, a subtle nod to the shape of a burgee — a sailor’s triangular flag — caught in the wind. It's our "why," made tangible.

With our philosophy set, we focused on the feel. We began with the highest-quality foundations available, focusing on fabrics with the right weight, drape, and hand feel. We then curated a modern coastal palette, drawing tones directly from the Sausalito rhythm — fog, sails, sea, and shadow.

This first drop is highly curated on purpose. It's the foundation of an evolving collection, built for the coast's rhythm. For fog rolling in and light breaking through. These are the essentials, crafted for motion and rest, and made to live with the tides.

This is the "look closer" standard we're built on.
